Troy Laundry
Troy Laundry
Scope of Work: Masonry Restoration, Air Barrier
Sawtooth came on board with this restoration project ran by R&H Construction to bring this building back to life! The Troy Laundry was established in 1889 by John F. Tait, who came to Portland, Oregon, from Scotland, where he had apprenticed in the laundry trade. The 1913 building was designed by Ellis F. Lawrence and originally built for the Troy Laundry Company. The laundry remained in operation until 1983 as one of Portland’s largest commercial laundries.
One of our first tasks our crews encountered was window infilling the old window RO's as well as door entries along the North elevation. Dymonic 100 was utilized around all DensGlass screws and seams, followed by the installation of window sill pans and jam flashings with rockwool. Last but not least, using Tremco's ExoAir 230 as our air and vapor barrier material to fully seal in the internal structure. These openings are now ready to be filled with Brick!
After all the window RO’s are filled, our Masonry Restoration crew will be performing structural tuck pointing and replacement of any failed or broken bricks. Allowing this building to be structurally sounds before any additions are to come into play for the next phase of the construction project. (Anti Graffiti work was also implemented in this phase of the project.)
