Waterproofing

All foundations must be properly protected from erosion and damage cause by elements in the ground in order to support the building above. Our waterproofing crews use the highest quality of products and precise techniques to ensure a base that will stand the test of time.

What is Waterproofing

Waterproofing is primarily a below-grade application of an impermeable material that prohibits moisture from penetrating the structural components of construction (foundation, basements, tunnels, etc.). While waterproofing has fundamental distinctions from roofing materials, waterproofing is also applied to above coverings in places such as parking garages and plaza decks. Sawtooth also provides dampproofing services on occasions where it is a suitable alternative to waterproofing. Damp proofing is not as reliable or air-tight as waterproofing and cannot have the same assurances. Below are manufacturers we have been certified in installation of their products.

Hot-Fluid applied

Hot-applied liquid waterproofing systems consist of rubberized asphalt. Multiple layers must be applied to achieve durability, along with a reinforcement layer made of fleece and a protection board, which add complexity to the installation. Advantageous in certain climate conditions and with certain substrates as opposed to cold applied products.

Below Grade

Below-grade waterproofing refers to waterproofing applied below ground level that comes into contact with a building or structure. It happens to be the treatment of a surface or structure to prevent the passage of water under hydrostatic pressure.

Above-Grade (Plaza decks, Parking garages, planter boxes, etc.)

Whether a building is near the sea exposed to driving sea spray, or in an area that only gets occasional rain, every building can benefit from above-grade waterproofing. In fact, every building must have above grade waterproofing if it is to last more than a few short years. Above grade waterproofing is essential for every building envelope.
